Aircraft System Safety Assessment and 1309 Design Analysis Course
Course Introduction
​
This course aims to provide the delegates with knowledge of the methods for safety assessment in relation to the design, reliability, safety and certification of aircraft systems. It also provides the practical knowledge of system safety requirements of 1309 regulation, from fundamental philosophies and criteria to the analysis techniques to accomplish safety requirement identification, validation and verification. It describes and explains the various approaches to assessing the safety of increasingly complex aircraft systems whilst providing an open forum in which all issues related to safety assessment can be discussed.
The course is delivered over five days, and is mostly in the form of lectures and tutorials. Group work also takes place, where delegates will carry out a safety assessment in teams. All delegates will receive a Certificate of Attendance at the end of the course.

Demonstrate an understanding of the regulatory background behind the Safety Assessment of Aircraft Systems

Choose and apply the technique(s) which is most appropriate for the system under consideration

Understand the theory behind each technique, including the strengths and weaknesses of each one, and be aware of possible pitfalls

The course is designed for personnel from all parts of the aviation industry although it will be of particular value to the Part 23, 25, 27 and 29 system certification engineers, CVE, system designers, aircraft certification personnel, system safety specialists and those working for manufacturers, suppliers, operators and aviation authorities who are concerned with the design, reliability, safety or certification of aircraft systems.​
